Indian passport photo 35×45 mm

Indian passport photographs are commonly 35 mm wide by 45 mm high with a plain white background, a recent likeness and a neutral expression. This page starts the crop on that India / Passport Seva size so you are not hunting through presets.

Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and the online form still decide acceptance. Lighting, clothing, glasses rules and the file size for a digital upload change. This tool formats the crop and print sheet only. It does not attest a photograph or file an application.

Passport Seva print versus digital upload

A printed 35×45 mm photo is what you often carry to PSK or paste on a paper form. The website may also want a JPEG in a stated pixel and KB range (notices have listed bands such as 10–250 KB). Crop here first. If the portal rejects the file for size, open Image Resize and set the KB target from the form.

Glasses are not accepted on most current Indian passport notices. Keep both eyes open, mouth closed, and the full face visible. Religious head covering is allowed when the face is unobstructed.

  • Print size 35×45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm)
  • Plain white background
  • Recent photo, face centred, no heavy filters
  • Resize separately when the portal lists KB or pixels

OCI, visa and other Indian IDs

Many Indian visa categories and OCI photo rules also use 35×45 mm with a stricter background. PAN card photos often use the same millimetre size. Open PAN card photo or Visa photo maker if that is the form you are filling. US visa photos are 2×2 in, not 35×45.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Indian passport photo size?

The usual print size is 35 mm × 45 mm. Digital Passport Seva uploads also list JPEG, pixels and KB — follow the notice on the form.

Will this photo be accepted at a Passport Seva Kendra?

The tool only crops and lays out the print. Acceptance depends on lighting, white background, clothing and the rules in force when you apply.

Do I need a white background?

Yes for most Indian passport notices. Start with a white wall, or set white and remove the original background, then check the edges.

How do I make the file small enough for the website?

Crop to 35×45 mm here, then use Image Resize and the KB limit printed on Passport Seva or your form.
