Visa photo rules are country-specific. A large share of Schengen, UK and Indian visa categories use 35×45 mm. US nonimmigrant visas (DS-160) and US passports use 2×2 inches. This page starts on the common 35×45 visa crop. Open US visa photo when the form is square.
Embassies reject photos for background colour, glasses, outdated pictures and incorrect size more often than for a slightly soft crop. This tool does not guarantee acceptance. Check the current VFS, embassy or DS-160 instructions.
Schengen, UK and Indian visa photos
Schengen Annex-style photos are typically 35×45 mm on a light background, face forward, mouth closed. UK visa and passport photos use the same millimetre size; some UK routes prefer light grey rather than studio white. Indian visa and OCI packs often match the Indian passport 35×45 crop.
Set a white or light background here and remove a busy room if needed. Leave space so hair and chin are not cut.
- 35×45 mm for Schengen, UK and many Indian visas
- 2×2 in for US visa and US passport — use the US page
- Plain background, recent photo, no sunglasses

What this visa photo tool does not do
It does not replace a photographer when the mission requires a studio print. It does not change your application status. Canada uses 50×70 mm — pick that size on the main Passport Photo Maker if that is your destination.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a visa photo?
Many visas use 35×45 mm. US visas use 2×2 in. Canada uses 50×70 mm. Always read the leaflet for your category.
Is the visa photo maker free?
Yes. Crop and print without a login.
Can I use the same photo for passport and visa?
Only if both forms list the same millimetre size and background rules. US 2×2 is not the same as Indian 35×45.
Do I need a white background for a visa?
Often yes, or a light grey. Follow the embassy or VFS page for that visa, then set the background colour here.
