Resize a photograph for CSC uploads

Common Service Centres handle banking correspondence, certificates, exam forms and state portals for people who do not use a home computer. The webcam or the customer’s phone produces a file the department site will not take. This page is the Image Resize tool with JPG and 50 KB ready, which matches a large share of CSC photo fields.

Village lighting and busy backgrounds waste the KB limit. Crop to the face, use a plain wall if you can, then compress. A passport-style crop at 50 KB is more likely to pass a visual check than a compressed group photo.

One photo, many services

CSC operators often reuse a photograph across several tickets. Keep a master original, then generate 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB copies as each portal asks. Do not repeatedly compress the already-compressed JPG — always start from the original.

If the customer needs a printed passport sheet as well as a digital upload, make the print with Passport Photo and the portal file with this page from the same original.

  • JPG, because many department sites block WEBP
  • 50 KB default; 20 KB for signatures and some older slots
  • Simple file name on the CSC desktop
  • Not an official CSC or Digital Seva login

Connectivity and privacy

Resize runs in the browser on the CSC PC. That is useful on a slow link: you are not sending the 4 MB original to an unknown converter on the public internet just to get a 50 KB JPG. Close the tab when the customer leaves.

Frequently asked questions

What size photo does CSC need?

Each service differs. This page starts at 50 KB JPG. Copy the KB from the form you are filling.

Can I resize a signature here too?

Yes, but set 20 KB if that is the cap. The 20 KB page is written for signatures.

Will this work without internet after the page loads?

The compressor itself runs in the browser. You still need the page loaded. Upload to the government site needs the CSC connection.

Is this approved by CSC e-Governance?

No. It is a free Template Maker tool. It does not replace Digital Seva.

Why is the face blurry at 50 KB?

The webcam may be far away or the crop too wide. Move closer, recrop, and generate from the new original.
