Resize photo to 20 KB

Target is 20 KB as JPG. Crop the face or signature first — a full selfie at 20 KB usually looks blocky.

Resize a photo or signature to 20 KB

A 20 KB cap is tight. Indian exam and job portals still use it for signatures and, on older forms, for the photograph itself. This page starts the compressor at 20 KB and JPG so you are not guessing the target on the generic resize tool.

Camera photos are usually several hundred KB or more. Shrinking a full-length selfie to 20 KB destroys the face. Crop to the ink of a signature, or to head and shoulders for a photo, then generate. The work runs in your browser.

When 20 KB is the right target

Use this page when the form says photograph or signature “not more than 20 KB”, “between 10 and 20 KB”, or “max 20KB JPEG”. SSC, railway, banking and state sites often put the small cap on the signature even when the photo is allowed 50 KB.

If the portal also lists pixels (for example 140×60 for a sign), set width and height as well. KB and pixels are different rules. Matching only one of them is a common reason the upload still fails.

  • JPG, not PNG or WEBP, unless the form names another type
  • Crop to the writing or the face before you compress
  • If 20 KB looks unreadable, the scan was too small or too noisy — retake it
  • Keep the original until the application is accepted

Photo versus signature at 20 KB

A signature on white paper, photographed in even light, compresses cleanly. A colour portrait at 20 KB often looks patchy. If the form allows 50 KB for the photo, use the 50 KB page for the face and this page only for the sign.

Portals change limits without warning. If 20 KB is rejected as too small, try 30 KB only when the notice allows it. This tool does not submit the form.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a photo to 20 KB?

Upload the file on this page. The target is already 20 KB and JPG. Crop unused background, generate, and download. Check the result size in the sidebar.

Why does my 20 KB photo look blurry?

Twenty kilobytes cannot hold a large colour picture. Crop closer to the face or sign, start from the original camera file, and avoid saving as JPG many times.

Can I use PNG for a 20 KB signature?

PNG is lossless and often stays above 20 KB. Most portals want JPG. Use PNG only if the notice says so.

Is this free?

Yes. No login or credits. Resizing runs in the browser.

The portal still says file too large.

Confirm the download is at or under 20 KB, that the type is JPG, and that the name has a .jpg extension. Some sites also reject files that are too small — read the minimum KB if one is printed.
