Resize an SSC photograph and signature

Staff Selection Commission forms almost always want a recent face photograph as a small JPG and a signature as an even smaller JPG. Candidates search “SSC photo resize” after the application site rejects a phone image. This page prefills 50 KB and JPG for the photograph — a cap that has appeared in many SSC cycles.

The notice for your examination is the only official size list. Some years add a minimum KB, a pixel box, or a colour-background rule. Change the fields here to match that PDF. Template Maker is not SSC and does not register your application.

Photo at 50 KB, signature smaller

Do not upload the same file in both slots. The photograph should show the face; the signature should show only the ink on white paper. If the notice says signature 10–20 KB (or 1–12 KB in some older instructions), use the 20 KB page and lower the number if required.

A 3.5 × 4.5 cm print size is about passport proportions. For a digital SSC upload you still compress to KB. For a physical sheet of copies, use Passport Photo, then compress a separate JPG here for the website.

  • Photograph: start 50 KB JPG, then match the notice
  • Signature: usually 20 KB or less, separate crop
  • No sunglasses, no heavy beauty filter
  • Name the files clearly: ssc-photo.jpg and ssc-sign.jpg

If SSC still rejects the upload

Check JPEG, extension .jpg, KB within the printed range, and pixels if given. A file of 51 KB fails a 50 KB cap. Generate again. If the site says the photo is not a photo, the crop may include too much room or another person. Recrop to the face.
